2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Mixed Feedback
Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated staff about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the need for a clearer game identity.
The president stated that the developers is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to better meet community desires.

The news follows a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was informative. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a clearer brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the input to mind and overhauled the title with a refreshed goal - one that’s poised to deliver on its ambition to our players.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To boost the outstanding development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of 31st Union. After some time of talks, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

Brinkman currently serves in the role of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for their flagship title. Brinkman earlier worked at major gaming companies in various production roles on the Call of Duty series, and, prior to that, had periods at 2K and Electronic Arts.

The upcoming game was unveiled in October 2024 together with a community playtest. Initially, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an exciting advancement on the style."
